The findings of the research show two typologies of history teachers in dealing with the history of the 30 September Movement. Critical discourse analysis based on the socio-cognitive approach was used to analyze the perception and attitudes of 25 history teachers in five cities in Indonesia. This research analyzes the discourse of history teachers in teaching the history of the 30 September Movement in Indonesia. History teachers have to deal with seven versions of the narrative presented in history textbooks and a bunch of pseudohistories invented by students from the Internet and social media outlets. The most controversial issue in history teaching in Indonesia is the history of the 30 September Movement. Thus, in trying to balance historical sources, the different voices of the drama, the actual situation is the predominance and almost absolute Catholic -Both worlds are real but contingent (they were like that but they could have been otherwise). Classical (Thucydides, Tacitus) and Renaissance (Pontano, Guicciardini) historians always took for granted that histories could take and actually took rhetorical forms (Burke 2013).To the problems that inherently entails contextualizing and giving an appropriate historical meaning to the True History, there are also those of not having enough Pre-Hispanic sources -only a handful of Pre-Hispanic codices survived destruction. Ho wever, the modern exponent of this thesis, Hayden White, proposed it in writing more that four decades ago, and exemplified it with four nineteenth-century historians: Michelet, von Ranke, Tocqueville and Burckhardt(White 1975).It is important to note that, in a similar way to what happened with history made by eyewitnesses, the refusal to consider a rhetoric of history is a relatively new phenomenon which begins with nineteenth-century positivism.
